My wife and I consider our pets as our kids. We play with them, walk them, take them on outings, travel with them & ensure their health is taken care of. We feed them, spoil them, groom & bathe them. We pat them, let them sleep on the bed and allow them a very special place in our hearts.
When it came time for us to farewell one of our beloved pets, we discovered there was a range of remembrance products we could buy through our vet. Items such as a headstone, a hair clipping, her paw print and many other mementos however, there was no option for a ceremony at all. No sense of occasion to mark our loss. Therefore, I decided to write our own memorial and deliver this for us. The memorial ceremony gave us a proper sense of closure, of occasion and acknowledgement of our pain.
It commemorated a time of loss, reflection and love, that we hold dear. It helped us to remember and share some good times, some naughty times and some funny stories. It allowed for reflection upon the life that was, and all that we had to be grateful for.
If you’re like me, and cannot imagine saying goodbye without some kind of ceremony, please get in touch and we can have a chat about what might suit you. Pets are part of our family and it’s incredibly hard to say goodbye to them. I acknowledge that in times gone by the grief over losing a pet wasn’t socially accepted in the way it is now. Times have very much changed, and we no longer consider it unusual to grieve for the loss of your pet, but the norm. Pets are widely considered as members of families nowadays and we treat them as such throughout their life, and can now in their passing.
